The Roof & Chimney Repairs project focused on protecting these historic buildings from water intrusion and weather-related deterioration by restoring critical exterior envelope components while maintaining the site’s historic character.

Project Description

This preservation-focused scope addressed aging roofing conditions and chimney deficiencies that threatened long-term building performance. Work was completed using historically sensitive methods intended to retain original materials wherever feasible, replace only what was beyond repair, and ensure the repaired systems matched the fort’s historic appearance and function.

The project strengthened the durability of the historic structures, improved drainage and flashing performance, and stabilized chimney assemblies to reduce ongoing maintenance needs—helping Fort Hartsuff continue to serve as a public historic destination in Valley County near Burwell.
